Call of Duty Co-Creator Vince Zampella Dies in California Car Crash
Vince Zampella, the co-creator of the globally popular "Call of Duty" video game franchise, died in a car crash in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday. He was 55 years old. Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the game studio Zampella co-founded, confirmed his death.
The accident occurred on a highway when the Ferrari Zampella was traveling in veered off the road and struck a concrete barrier before catching fire, according to reports. Tragically, the crash resulted in two fatalities. Officials stated that the passenger was ejected from the vehicle.
Zampella's contribution to the gaming industry is significant, with the "Call of Duty" franchise selling over 500 million copies worldwide. The franchise's success also led to the creation of a live-action film, solidifying its position as one of the most successful gaming franchises of all time.
"This is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with Vince's family, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts told the BBC.
